Roomba DOA
Sadly, my Roomba arrived dead-on-arrival. I’m waiting for a UPS label to mail it back (along with the bits that fell out of its innards upon opening). Given our timeframe, I don’t think I’ll order another before going back to England.
And it looked like such a good toy, too. I had visions of plugging my Gumstix into it, and writing my own vacuuming algorithms on the Transterpreter.
Roombas are awesome. My roommate has one, and it’s the coolest thing since sliced bread, with the possible exception of my new Cuisinart.
This might be a stupid question, but did you charge your Roomba? It takes a few hours charge straight out of the box for the little guy to get going. I love my Roomba but it doesn’t work without the proper juice!
Ah. Good point, Josh. However, there were plastic bits that fell out of the Roomba when it arrived, and they were clearly bits that had broken. As in, they showed signs of having been stressed and snapped.
It’s a good point—I remember reading how slow the battery charges (with the default battery), but this guy was definitely dead. (Insert “Dead Parrot Sketch” here.)
